Privacy Policy

Classroom Loop (“Platform,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is operated by Garesa Hughes. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users and the students whose data is processed through the Platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information.

1. What We Collect

  • Account information: Name, email address, role (teacher, guardian, admin), and hashed password stored via Supabase Auth.
  • Student roster data: First name and avatar emoji provided by the teacher. No student email addresses, birth dates, or government-issued IDs are collected.
  • Behavior records: Points awarded or deducted, category, timestamp, and optional teacher note.
  • Communications: Teacher-to-guardian messages, class announcements, and story-feed posts.
  • Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and error logs — collected in aggregate to improve the Platform.
  • Payment information: Billing is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store raw card numbers.

2. How We Use It

  • Provide and improve the classroom management features.
  • Send guardian notifications via SMS and email (with consent).
  • Process subscription payments through Stripe.
  • Generate AI-assisted teaching content via Anthropic Claude.
  • Communicate platform updates, support responses, and billing notices.

We do not sell personal data to third parties. Student data is never used for advertising purposes.

3. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

The Platform is designed for use by teachers and guardians — not directly by children. Teachers act as school officials authorized under COPPA to collect limited student data (first name, avatar emoji, behavior points) on behalf of the school. By adding a student to the roster, teachers confirm that they have obtained appropriate school or parental authorization.

Student data (names, behavior points) is stored only in our Supabase database. It is never transmitted to marketing services, analytics platforms, or any third-party system other than those listed under “Third-Party Services” below. We do not use student data for behavioral advertising.

Guardians may request to review or delete their child's data at any time by contacting privacy@teacherplatform.com.

4. Student Records (FERPA)

We recognize that behavior records and other student information may constitute education records under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). We act as a “school official” with a legitimate educational interest and process such records only at the direction of the teacher or school. We do not disclose education records to unauthorized parties.

5. SMS and Marketing (TCPA)

Guardian SMS notifications are sent only when a guardian has provided explicit, separate opt-in consent. SMS consent is never bundled with email consent or account creation. Guardians can unsubscribe at any time by replying STOP to any SMS. Standard message and data rates may apply.

6. AI-Generated Content

Classroom Loop uses Anthropic Claude to generate lesson plans, assessments, and other educational content. All AI outputs display the disclaimer “AI-generated — review before use.” Teachers are responsible for reviewing AI-generated content before sharing it with students or guardians. Prompts submitted by teachers may be processed by Anthropic in accordance with Anthropic's Privacy Policy. Student names or personally identifiable information should not be included in AI tool prompts.

7. Third-Party Services

The following sub-processors handle data on our behalf:

  • Supabase— Database and authentication. Student and classroom data stored here only.
  • Stripe— Payment processing. Handles all billing data; we never see raw card numbers.
  • Cloudflare R2— File storage for uploaded images and resources.
  • Anthropic Claude— AI content generation for teacher tools only. Student PII is never sent to this service.
  • GoHighLevel (GHL)— Marketing CRM used for teacher account communications (emails, SMS). Student names and behavior data are never transmitted to GHL.

8. Data Retention

  • Teacher account data is retained while the account is active and for 90 days after closure to allow for reactivation.
  • Student data (roster, behavior logs) is deleted 12 months after the associated teacher account is permanently closed.
  • Payment records are retained as required by applicable tax and financial regulations (typically 7 years).

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@teacherplatform.com. We will respond within 30 days.
